Spray Foam Insulation Removal in Winchester

Winchester is twelve miles north of our Southampton base, straight up the M3, which makes the city and its villages some of the quickest places in Hampshire for us to reach. MG SOURCE removes spray foam insulation from roofs in Winchester, Alresford, Kings Worthy and the surrounding area, always by hand and always leaving the timbers clean enough for a surveyor to inspect.

Period homes, conservation areas and post-war estates

Winchester has one of the richest mixes of housing in the county. The streets around the cathedral, St Cross and Hyde contain Georgian townhouses, Victorian villas and much older timber-framed buildings, many within conservation areas. Fulflood is classic late-Victorian terracing, while Weeke, Stanmore, Harestock, Badger Farm and Olivers Battery are post-war estates with conventional roofs. The villages, from Alresford and the Worthys to Twyford and Bishop's Waltham, add flint-and-brick cottages, farmhouses and the occasional listed property, where removing foam carefully matters more than anywhere.

Gentle enough for old timber

In a roof full of two-hundred-year-old timber there's no place for grinders or chemical strippers. We take the foam off by hand, section by section, and wire brush the surface until the original wood shows again. It leaves pegged joints, purlins and old sarking exactly as we found them, and the waste is bagged and removed before we go.

Building surveys and Winchester sales

A Winchester sale almost always comes with a full building survey, and spray foam in the roof is a reliable way to make one read badly. Lenders can refuse to proceed, buyers can renegotiate, and the chain slows down. If you've had foam flagged, send us the survey wording and a few photos and we'll quote quickly.

Spray foam removal in Winchester: FAQ

From £28 per m² plus VAT, including bagging and disposal. Older roofs with irregular timbers take longer to brush back, and the quote allows for that. Our cost guide has examples.

Removing foam from inside the loft doesn't alter the outside of the building, so a conservation area on its own doesn't usually come into it. If the property is listed, speak to the council's conservation team first.

Most jobs are completed within four weeks of booking, with time on site depending on roof size and how firmly the foam is bonded.

Yes. Hand removal and wire brushing are gentle enough for historic timber. We don't cut, grind or blast.
