Spray Foam Insulation Removal in Portsmouth
Portsmouth is the UK's only island city, and almost every street on Portsea Island is terraced. MG SOURCE removes spray foam insulation from roofs across Portsmouth, Southsea, Cosham and the surrounding area, working from our base in Southampton twenty miles along the M27. We take the foam off by hand, brush the timbers clean and take every bag of waste away.

Victorian terraces and slate roofs
The city's housing is overwhelmingly Victorian and Edwardian: long terraces in Southsea, Fratton, North End, Copnor and Stamshaw built for dockyard and naval families, usually with slate roofs on slender rafters and lofts running the full depth of the house. Spray foam was pushed hard in these streets as an answer to draughty roofs, and it's now one of the commonest findings in a Portsmouth homebuyer survey. Cosham, Drayton and Farlington are mostly 1930s to 1960s semis and bungalows, but the terraces are where foam is most often found.
Hand removal in a tight terraced loft
Terraced lofts are tight, so hand removal suits them well. The foam is peeled from the rafters and the underside of the slates, the timber is wire brushed clean, and the waste is bagged and carried down. No solvents are used, which matters when the loft sits directly over bedrooms, and where slates are nailed to battens with no felt behind them we work carefully so nothing is disturbed from below.
First-time buyers, cautious lenders
Portsmouth's housing stock changes hands constantly, and many sales involve first-time buyers whose lenders are cautious about spray foam. If a survey has flagged it, removal is often the quickest way to keep the purchase on track, and we quote with that urgency in mind.

Spray foam removal in Portsmouth: FAQ
From £28 per m² plus VAT, including disposal. A typical terraced roof is a modest area, so these are often among the smaller jobs we price. Our cost guide shows worked examples.
No, but we take it into account. Without felt the foam is bonded directly to the slates and battens, so we take extra care to leave them undisturbed.
We're a short run along the M27. We can usually visit within days, and most jobs are finished within four weeks of booking.
Very little. Hand removal is quiet, and with no machinery there's nothing to carry noise through a party wall.
